"Colonel"?

Apparently he was never a colonel in charge of any army. Among members of the southern gentlemen the title was an honorific treatment.See the article Colonel (U.S. honorary title). Gustavo Rubén (talk) 21:04, 23 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
