You've got to be kidding me, you are actually saying that the color that is "Buckskin" came from this horse, and the name of the horse, in no way came from the fact that they happen to be the same color as most breeds of deer? I suppose we named male deer "bucks" because they were the same color as this horse? And when the settlers wore buckskins, those clothes were made out of this type of horse? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.15.182.26 (talk) 15:51, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- The article is not especially clear, but yes, the term "buckskin" comes from horses that are the same color as the skin of a buck. Why don't you use OED and edit the article?Countercanter (talk) 21:35, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- I'm also OK with improving that intro, it definitely could use some help. I also don't really have the time to do it, so I sure support others who do! Montanabw(talk) 04:00, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
