CCNA Definition Clarification
[edit]Working on this page to correct a systemic problem through out wikipedia where Cisco certifications are referred to by the definition of the credential instead of the actual credential. As a Cisco certified professional I can tell you this is irksome. For example CCNA is the credential not Cisco Certified Network Associate. Cisco Certified Network Associate is the definition not the word. Like saying: small clear plastic container of water instead of 'water bottle'. Cisco certification page was out of date and inaccurate. It left out the associate category entirely which is the most common. It did not address the new changes in concentration in CCNA. The old CCNA certification has been discontinued and now candidates must concentrate in a specific area. It also did not address prerequisites, training or exams.
Additionally refering to the credential by the defintion instead of the credential gives undo visibility (ie advertisment) to the keyword "Cisco" (which seems conspicuous)

- While I'm sure you are correct that most in the tech industry refer to "CCNA", English language and U.S. copyright rules do not agree with you. This should be listed in the encyclopedia as the full name with a redirect on the acronym, not the other way around. If another industry comes up with a certification called CCNA , a pissing match will be created and the end result will be a re-direct page on the acronym after a huge waste of time and energy - thus the standard is to name the article after the certification, not the acronym. - I agree with Lexlex that listing the certification should be listed by its full name, not an acronym. Wikipedia guidelines dictate that acronyms should be avoided "unless the subject is almost exclusively known by its abbreviation (e.g. NATO and Laser)." While the certification is often referred to as "CCNA" without any clarification, it is not "almost exclusively" referred to this way. It's interesting that Cisco's own web sites are inconsistent in treating "CCNA" as the primary name versus "Cisco Certified Network Associate." This page says "CCNA® (Cisco Certified Network Associate)" while this one says "Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)". Note that CCNA is a registered trademark though. -Ilikeimac (talk) 22:46, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
CCNA has not been discontinued. I just received my CCNA certification. You MAY specialize, if you wish, by passing more tests. 91.140.140.236 (talk) 08:07, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Correct. I think that what he means is earlier versions of the exams were discontinued. Bwrs (talk) 03:20, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
it was my impression that you must first pass the CCNA base cert ( eg exam 640-802 ) befor you can get certified on one of the concentrations 203.161.103.142 (talk) 11:32, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- I just checked the web site and that is correct. Bwrs (talk) 03:20, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

How much it costs for studiying this CCNA Naveenvs26 (talk) 14:00, 30 August 2017 (UTC) The cost depends on whether you attend it at a training center or do self study. For self study the books cost around $50 and the exam is $150, exam pricing varies depending on the country. Touchoftruth (talk) 05:46, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
What the heck is a bhavuk-level?
[edit]I mean... Is this some new fangled terminology that I am unaware of? Otherwise, if it is some non-English word, I don't think it belongs there. Particularly because Cisco is an American company, and the likelihood of it being called "bhavuk-level" by an American staffer is probably less than 0. Navysealltblue (talk) 15:01, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
- It's probably not helpful. I removed it. Thanks for pointing it out. bobrayner (talk) 23:28, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

- To make this a placeholder as you say or as Wikipedia says a Disambiguation, the topics you propose must already be noteworthy with an existing article to link to. WurmWoodeT 23:12, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
