Article name

[edit]

I'd like to propose changing the article's title from Camden Yards station to Camden Station (with a redirect from Camden Yards station). My rationale is as follows. In the past ½ year, the article has been expanded threefold from a stub to cover the entire history of Camden Station beginning with the B&O terminal in 1856 to the current MARC operation. Throughout its 130+ year history, it was always called "Camden Station" by the B&O and in the Official Guide of the Railways. It is still called Camden Station by MARC in the MARC Camden line schedule. Only the MTA refers to the light rail stop as "Camden Yards". So, instead of using the Light Rail's term for the article title, I think we should use the MARC name for this railroad station. JGHowes talk - 15:47, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support-This should be done. Murjax (talk) 15:56, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak support. I don't feel that strongly about it one way or the other. It should be noted that the MTA also is the operator of MARC, so the same agency calls the same station (and it really is the same station -- the MARC and Light Rail tracks are immediately adjacent to one another) by two different names. I suppose the historical name should be given preference, but I think it's important to note that Light Rail stop has a different designation close to the head of the article. --Jfruh (talk) 19:18, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - The rail station for passenger trains is Camden Station. The former freight yards were Camden Yards. Just because the MTA is inconsistent with calling by its proper name doesn't mean we have to be.oknazevad (talk) 07:18, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Top photo isn't of the station

[edit]

The pic in the infobox is a really good one, but ... it's not of the station! Yes, I know that the building was the station for most of its existence, but Camden Station is still in operation, so shouldn't the topmost photo on the page be of the actual current station as it exists today? We don't have any great pics, but I'd suggest this one...--Jfruh (talk) 14:51, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a caption to make it clear that the structure pictured was the station for most of its existence — 1856 to the 1980s. This article is about the entire 150+ years of Camden Station. As to the present, there is no "Camden Station" building, per se: just tracks. The picture of a MARC train is already on the page in the gallery and is not really the "station", either. Technically, I suppose it would be the old B&O coach parked on a siding (not pictured) which constitutes the only identifiable "station" facility where tickets are sold. I would have to disagree with you there. The platform is at least part of the station and therefore a more appropriate picture for the infobox and the old station building. I swapped the pictures (yes, I made the edit. For some reason it logged me out). Murjax (talk) 18:35, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
