Shouldn't this be listed as ongoing?
[edit]According to Babel the Office of the President of Ukraine has said that half of Melitopol is still occupied by Ukraine — Preceding unsigned comment added by ReedyTurnip (talk • contribs) 22:30, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
Yes I agree. https://t.me/babel/8888 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Js26x (talk • contribs) 22:30, 25 February 2022 (UTC)
- It's still very unclear in the fog of war what is really happening. At the moment, the reliable sources we have available show that the city is under full Russian occupation. This may change, trust me I'm continually watching for developments. Curbon7 (talk) 04:47, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- Reuters states that Britain, or rather one of its ministers, has disputed the status of Melitopol of being controlled by Russia. I'd move to switch it to reflect that it may be still ongoing.[1] VoidDiamondz (talk) 20:18, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- I feel that it should be listed as ongoing for the time being until further information. Cheers, --WellThisIsTheReaper 00:57, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

"Russian victory" status
[edit]How is it a Russian victory when it has not been confirmed? Both sides are claiming they control the city. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FA49:7660:5400:F5FD:AF74:7987:F769 (talk) 05:06, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

Battle should be listed as “ongoing” due to no credible sources stating it has been captured. All sources say the city is being fought over 70.21.18.8 (talk) 21:33, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. AwfulReader (talk) 14:17, 6 March 2022 (UTC)
Ongoing status
[edit]Given that everyone has clearly pointed out the battle is ongoing, it can be assumed via the lack of changes that the administrators have an anti-Ukrainian/pro-Russian bias. Can someone please remove them and replace them with unbiased editors? 70.21.18.8 (talk) 21:35, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
- See WP:VERIFIABILITY. Administrators are not allowed to take administrative actions on issue in which they are editorially involved. See WP:ADMIN to learn what administrators are on Wikipedia. If you want a change on a protected article, you may need to more clearly present exactly what changes you are proposing, and provide sources that justify the changes. Any editor satisfying certain qualification thresholds can implement your proposal; admins have no special rights for ordinary editing. As for your actual point on the status of the battle, there was a citizens' (unarmed, apparently) protest against a cordon of Russian military vehicles in Melitopol today. This tends to support the claim that Melitopol is occupied by RU soldiers, or at least the "battle" is currently a political rather than military battle. Anyway, people with recent sources should provide them. Boud (talk) 20:22, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
- The Ukrainian authorities say for today 2 March: "16:44 Thousands of people took to the streets of Melitopol, Zaporizhya region, to stop the Russian occupation of the city." This does sound like ongoing, though we need good sources. Boud (talk) 20:33, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Coat of arms
[edit]Russia replaced the Ukrainian flags on the Coat of Arms of Melitopol with the Ribbon of Saint George. File is here. [1]
I suggest that, if used, use in the "Aftermath" section with a caption relating to flag change. DinoSoupCanada (talk) 01:14, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
