"Self-destruction" of the Black Scrolls

They are actually set alight by Borusa, who then closes the lid on the box (which would, of course, put out the fire!). Impossible to tell if this was given as a hint to the audience that he was keen on preserving the Scrolls, or if this was just an oversight by the actor or director (probably due to needing to make multiple takes--could also be why the scrolls are black, since they would have been singed several times in the process of making the special--what sort of ink do you use on black parchment?).
