Looking at the 2010 census reports, there are now areas including Chinatown and some surrounding areas that are about 1 square mile, with a total population of 20,000 people, that are majority Chinese - probably averaging to about 65% Chinese. This article may want to discuss the spread of Chinatown into those parts of Bridgeport. On history of Chinatown

[edit]

What was the reason for removal of history Chinatown? See: [1] I have no information on this subject, but I would like to know the reason. Shd 23:37, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Argyle area comprise of mainly Vietnamese nationality-wise and other South East Asian (SEA) nationalities. Though there are ethnic Chinese (Hoa) who operate the shops, they are part of the Vietnamese community and cater to such. Basically change "New Chinatown" to "Little Vietnam" or "Little Saigon." 24.14.34.29 (talk) 18:16, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Except that's not what its called. The neighborhood around Argyle and Broadway, regardless of whether its correct, is often called 'New Chinatown' by Chicagoans. Is it accurate? No. But you can't just rename a neighborhood on Wikipedia to something that sounds more accurate. Ryecatcher773 (talk) 05:53, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge template?

[edit]

Why would this be merged? Chicago's Chinatown is more than notable enough to warrant it's own article. --TorsodogTalk 21:29, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Torsodog. There's more than enough material available about Chinatown specifically. We don't need an article on every neighborhood shown here, but at least some of them do deserve their own articles. Neighborhoods should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
