English name[edit]

I have removed chlorospingus as an English name, as I am unaware of anyone having suggested this. Yes, they are unlikely to be members of Thraupidae, but that's no different to the many other species where the name doesn't reflect the actual relationships, and while some of these have been renamed, a large percentage have not. It is worth mentioning that following the massive changes among Thraupidae, it has been suggested that "tanager" should be used as a name for a morphotype rather than a monophylogenetic group (similar to the use of sparrow). If anyone has a reference where chlorospingus is suggested in the common name instead of bush-tanager (it certainly is an interesting idea), feel free to re-add it. Otherwise it is problematic due to Wikipedia:No original research. Rabo3 (talk) 14:24, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
