Christian Outreach for Relief & DevelopmentCord (charity) – Cord, while founded as "Christian Outreach" in 1967, has never been known as "Christian Outreach for Relief & Development". Over the last number of years to current day, this organisation has been known by supporters, founders, partners and employees simply as "Cord" (not, it should be noted, CORD -- it is not an acronym.) You may visit www.cord.org.uk to see how the organisation presently brands itself. Because of this Wikipedia article's name, many news sources searching for information on the charity have ended up publishing information under the wrong name. It is critical that this name is changed as soon as is possible. Thank you. Relisted. Jenks24 (talk) 15:53, 6 July 2014 (UTC) --Relisted. Oppose. It is registered as "Christian Outreach". Here is information published on the official web-site of this organization:

Christian Outreach is a Registered Charity in England and Wales (Number 1070684) and a Company Limited by Guarantee in England and Wales (Number 03566119) Copyright © 1998-2014 Cord - All Rights Reserved <blockquote\> Ans-mo (talk) 10:33, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

It is not, however, registered as "Christian Outreach for Relief & Development", nor has it ever been. As the organisation is publicly known to donors, trustees, employees, beneficiaries and communities as "Cord" (for examples, see all available past Annual Review documents on the Charity Commission's website), it is logical to change the name from something it has never been known as (Christian Outreach for Relief & Development) to something it widely is and has been known as (Cord).

Confirming oppose. The request for a move looks prejudiced and is not based on real facts. The organization calls itself "Christian Outreach" on its official web-site. It was founded as "Christian Outreach" and is widely known as "Christian Outreach". Examples of respectable sources:

Christian Outreach Relief and Development (CORD) United Nations

CORD (Christian Outreach Relief and Development) Registered charity 1070684 Registration Date: July 1998 The aim of CORD is to demonstrate the love of Jesus by practical care of vulnerable and marginalised people, especially children, displaced communities and refugees. CORD's projects include health care; water and sanitation; training and education; community services; rehabilitation for children with disabilities; development of small businesses and agriculture. I understand the user's opposition to the move, on the surface, if not the implication that there are no "real facts" supporting the change. I would be willing to amend my request that the page name be changed simply to "Christian Outreach", as there really should be no logical opposition there. Charity no. 1070684 is "Christian Outreach" on paper for official purposes with the Charity Commission of England and Wales, though it is clearly known as "Cord" in current publications. I would cite the Charity Commission's website, which states both that "Christian Outreach" is the registered name and "Cord" is the "working" name of the organisation:

http://apps.charitycommission.gov.uk/Showcharity/RegisterOfCharities/PrintReport.aspx?RegisteredCharityNumber=1070684&ReportType=BW

I would contend that the Charity Commission's official records should be given significantly more weight versus various websites that list a directory of websites of a category, often without the consent or input of the organisations listed and certainly without sources.
