stuff is creeping back in[edit]

The previous disputed stuff is creeping back in. I'll be removing it later if nobody objects. Phearson (talk) 05:18, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

The reason they are so popular? Anyone? Because Kurt Cobain wore them, come on this is well known and accepted as the reason why they are so popular now. Go to Seattle and see how many flannels and Chuck Taylors you see. And because Seattle is such an influential city, partly because of Kurt Cobain as well; really the whole grunge movement, their style has really caught on. To deny this would be to ignore the truth. I am not trying to just cite some famous person that wore them but someone who brought them back to style.

How about: they're popular because fashions just come and go over time? Sometimes they die out but come back later on. On the other hand, as a resident of Seattle I can tell you that hardly anybody local wears the Chucks/flannel combination these days. The standard-issue chucks-with-flannel uniform is effectively the same as a big stamp on the wearer's forehead that screams "DUMB TOURIST" or "I'M FROM CALIFORNY/NOO YAWK (pick one)". This isn't 1994 any more, the grunge fad (thankfully) kicked the bucket a decade and a half ago and is as good as dead.
Please refrain from generalizing individuals or groups, it can be considered a personal attack. Phearson (talk) 03:04, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, right. You'd understand if you'd actually spent any significant amount of time in Seattle. A response like that clearly indicates you haven't.

Chucks in strength sports?[edit]

I've been involved in power lifting and strongman circles for several years now, and you'll consistently see people wear chuck taylors both in training and in competition. I think that it's a significant subculture that should be noted in the main article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.86.177.233 (talk) 14:37, 16 July 2014 (UTC)

Please change the word "weightlifting" to "powerlifting". They are 2 different sports. In weightlifting CTASes are never used by any serious lifter (not stable enough). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.151.130.40 (talk) 17:01, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Conflicting statements[edit]

There seems to be conflicting statements concerning who was the last player to wear Chucks in the NBA. One source lists Tree Richard's and and the other lists Micheal Ray Richardson. Seb0910 (talk) 00:41, 30 December 2016 (UTC) Seb0910 (talk) 00:41, 30 December 2016 (UTC)

Terrible article: Marketing copy[edit]

This article is terrible and is almost completely filled will marketing copy. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a advertising medium, nor a fashion magazine. Ashmoo (talk) 20:16, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

Pro forma COI declaration[edit]

Be advised that I am the owner of a retail shoe store and have edited this article. We do not currently do business with Nike Incorporated or its Converse division, nor do we sell shoes marketed in competition to Chuck Taylor All Stars. Carrite (talk) 16:45, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

Micheal Ray Richardson as last to wear in the NBA[edit]

The link points to an expired auction with no verification that Robinson did, in fact, wear them in the 1982 season. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Philondrejack (talkcontribs) 00:17, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

OK, but the auction does say this was verfied...--62.255.13.162 (talk) 23:19, 9 May 2018 (UTC)
