Not a Latter-Day Saint Movement Denomination
[edit]While the Church of Israel has significant roots in a few members of the RLDS and Temple Lot church in the 1930's, not by any stretch can it be called a Latter Day Saint Movement denomination--each of which explicitly state that the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith, Jr.'s claims are the foundations of their faith. Good Olfactory made some improvements to the article, but then apparently decided to "sanitize" the article by removing information contrary to his own religious or political leanings. 70.246.75.15 (talk)
- I'm not sure what your meaning is. The cited sources are clear that the group is classed as a Latter Day Saint movement sect, as well as a Christian Identity sect. I removed some extended quotes—this is not "sanitization", but fairly standard practice in WP—articles are not collections of quotes. It's far better to summarize what articles state rather than reproducing reams of information. I simplified the article by stating what church the Church of Israel developed from—the Church of Christ at Zion's Retreat. That article is linked to, so if anyone wants to trace the "lineage" of the organization, it can be done, either through WP links or through the material that was quoted, which is still referenced in the article. - I've added a good source which sets out that the sect emerged from the Latter Day Saint movement, but little "Latter Day Saint" teachings or practices remain. That should provide a good balance on this issue. Good Ol’factory (talk) 20:50, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
