If someone is willing to compartmentalize and format this, I can add more informational content.

i removed the term slaves from the article since slavery was abolished at the time the Citadelle was being built.

Fair use rationale for Image:Citadelle large.jpg

[edit]

Image:Citadelle large.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Earthquake Damage?

[edit]

Does anybody know how this world heritage site fared in the earthquake? I didn't see anything about it on the main page.Tericee (talk) 18:14, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's located in/near Cap-Haïtien, which is outside of the zone where major damage occurred. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 18:04, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Largest Fortress in the Americas

[edit]

Can I just make a comment about the first paragraph, and specifically this statement "It is the largest fortress in the Americas". Can you quantify this claim, largest in what way? If "Americas" is taken to mean both North, Central and South American landmasses, (as defined by Wikipedia) I can think of half a dozen off the top of my head that are larger in some way to Citadelle Laferriere.

In the same region:

Castillo de San Felipe de Morro, Puerto Rico. Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabana, Havana Cuba. San Juan de Ulua, Veracrus, Mexico.

North America:

Fort George, Halifax, Canada. The Citadel, Quebec, Canada. Fort Monroe, Virginia, USA.

All the above appear to be larger than the Citadelle Laferriere in some way. So can you say in what way it is the largest fortress in the Americas, as this is quite a sweeping statement. I did wonder if you meant the highest? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrew381968 (talkcontribs) 18:03, 27 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
