FA Cup query
[edit]"The club continued to participate in FA Cup play until 1951, but its best results came in its earliest appearances there. In 1902 it reached the divisional final where it was put out by Luton" - there is no such thing as a "divisional final" in the FA Cup, nor is there any record of Luton Town playing Civil Service in the 1901-02 or 1902-03 competitions, or in fact of Civil Service even competing in either of those seasons - see here and here -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 14:01, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- There were Divisions in the qualifying rounds of the FA Cup up until 10 or so years ago (By that time, there were 36 roughly geographically divided divisions), and it is quite possible that the game between the last two survivors in each Division were informally termed Divisional Finals. - fchd (talk) 22:29, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification, Richard, I wasn't aware of that. I stand by my removal of the text from the article, though, as Civil Service definitely didn't play Luton in the cup in 1902..... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:56, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Why is the foundation date listed as 1863?
[edit]The club listed its own foundation date in the 1871 Football Annual as 1862. The club's own website confirms this, and states that "we were actually formed in 1862 (as recorded in C W Alcock’s The Football Annual 1871) or even earlier". Grover cleveland (talk) 08:22, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
