The writer of the above article has probably done some CRHing (Coin Roll Hunting) but not a lot so I want to correct a few things.

My qualifications? Even though I have only been doing this for one year I have found over 1200 silver coins, most are half dollars.

A) Silver quarters are the hardest to find and dimes 2nd hardest. I find more silver war nickels than both of these combined.

B) I belong to a couple of CRH chat groups and have never heard of this theory. I would like to see an actual article from the Fed Reserve before I believe this. The government is just too slow and bogged down to do anything about a few stray silver coins. This is a hobby not a money making business.

C) Marking to repel silver? Many hunters do mark their coins. Some go overboard and waste their time. Others just use a perminant marker and put a line or two on the edge. Takes 3 seconds to do a whole roll. These are only to confirm if their coins are coming back to them. Many times I have seen my own marked coins in a roll that also has silver in it. Coins are turned in all the time from many, many locations. They are then transported to a coin wrapping firm and dumped into a large hopper. These coins come from CRHers and the general public so all coins get mixed together and get rewrapped. The only reason I mark my coins is so that if I start getting a high percentage of my coins back I will look for another source of coins.

D) Why would I want to mark a spot on a coin that could be valuable? That would immediatly lower the value.

E) When this author said "banks" he/she should have said "teller" Many are very helpful and friendly but some a downright rude and lazy. Most fees are made up on the spot. Some tellers tell you that they have fees but can never say what the fees are. They just don't want to get up from their chair and do their job.

"Hobby Communication and Organization" section uneccesary[edit]

I believe that this is beyond the scope of what Wikipedia is meant for. Not only is it advertising, it's also badly written advertising, and adds no useful information that people wouldn't otherwise be able to gather themselves from 2 seconds on even the worst of search engines.
