True?
[edit]I have reorganised the page and expanded some of the sections. But I do have one question: I thought the Ridings commemorated Flodden and had nothing to do with the following (copied from the Selkirk section): "Common Riding remembers the young men who rode around their town’s boundaries checking for encroachments by neighboring settlements". I've left it in while I await the answer from someone more knowledgeable than myself. Gwinva 15:51, 9 February 2007 (UTC}
the riding of the marches commermorates the riding of the burgh lands, an important and dangerous job many years ago, the casting of the colours in selkirk's market square commermorates the fallen of flodden. User:retro_junkies 10:38, 15 March 2007
Hawick Section
[edit]This section is far too long and is a direct copy from www.hawick.net and is therefore in breach of copyright, which if permission has been given, it is not stated here. (Copyright © www.hawick.net). The section needs reducing. If people want to read the who section they can go the website which is referenced in the article. --Dumbo1 16:49, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Selkirk photo caption wrong
[edit]this shows the attendants coming in at the toll - the absence of the Standard Bearer can be divined by the fact you can't see the flag!
