About this article and Human skin color
[edit]They currently both speak about humans. To me, complexion should be more general (about animals). In the french wikipedia, "color of skin" it is currently about genetics, and fishes... Boism 22:28, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Not just Europeans
[edit]The idea of social hierarchy based on complexion isn't solely a European phenomenon, it's existed in all cultures through history. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.227.65.46 (talk) 01:09, 10 February 2007 (UTC).
Word. Not to mention in cultures such as India where it was/is actually based on complexion within the same race, and less race itself (for which complexion is only one outward indicator) and surely more notable to the article. 124.184.173.137 (talk) 12:40, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
I have edited the section about Complexion as it relates to Racism. Whoever had created that section, failed to create a counter balance to the issue of European Racism, and chose poor wording in saying that "From the Renaissance onwards, Europeans developed the idea". This is poorly worded, as it potentially comes across as though the original authors intent is to say that Europeans created or greatly evolved racism. Questionable if not potentially biased. Humans Only, Please
[edit]Perhaps those who wish to include animals under a discussion of complexion are native speakers of a language other than English. American English never uses the term complexion for animals. For them, we speak of skin color, scale color, color of feathers, fur, or even exoskeleton. Complexion is a term reserved for human beings.
On a different note, those seeking help with complexion problems may be interested in a number of different articles at [1] , where they can read further about human skin tones, recommended clothing colors, and about causes and solutions for complexion problems such as acne, oily skin, dry skin, wrinkles, rosacea, etc. Annaelena8 16:39, 31 May 2007 (UTC)annaelena8Annaelena8 16:39, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
