I removed this text from the site wich was under the "cornwall today" heading because it's copied verbatim from this site. It needs to be cleaned up or have citations added, though I'd encourage it to stay in if it's not a copyvio.

The town was established in 1784 and has had a population of about 1000 for the past 200 years. Until recently it has been an agricultural community and was once famous for its Merino sheep, Morgan horses, and apple orchards. Today there are only a few working farms left. There are a number of small enterprises and home businesses, but most residents work in Middlebury or other surrounding towns. Many seniors have been moving to Cornwall for their retirement.

Cornwall has relatively few town organizations. The school district operates one elementary school, Bingham Memorial. Secondary students are transported to Middlebury Union High School. There is an active Congregational Church, a small public library, and a volunteer fire department. The town is managed by an elected selectboard. However, most routine business is handled by the Town Clerk and Town Treasurer who hold regular office hours at the Town Hall. There are no retail stores currently operating in town and most residents do their shopping and obtain services in nearby Middlebury.
