Query re: religious sects in the county

[edit]

What is the religious distribution these days? My great grandmother was from County Cavan though arriving in Canada in the third quarter of the 19th century. And Scottish as opposed to Scotch (not really Irish) and therefore unilingual Anglophone rather than Scotch Gaelic speaking like the rest of my family till well into the 20th century. But she was Presbyterian -- marriage rule right through my parents' generation in the early second half of the 20th century was doesn't matter whether the girl or boy you marry is Presbyterian or Catholic, but must be Scotch. Old friends from childhood had exactly the same rule in their families: we all of course married with ethnicity and religion the last thing on our minds. My own offspring are technically half German-Polish Jews but look 100% Scotch just like the offspring of ethnically Japanese Canadian friends, so we Celts clearly have very strong genes though not the loveliest looking on earth by any means. But have any Scottish Presbyterians or for that matter English Anglicans remained in County Cavan? Excuse excessive verbosity of my query but I am vastly interested in this assuredly trivial issue. Presbyterians accounted for 1.3% of the poopulation in 2006. See CSE tables (Cavan at end). Laurel Lodged (talk) 09:30, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Thank you. Must have almost entirely emigrated to the New World in the 19th century. Vast numbers of RCs too of course but obviously not the vast proportion. Masalai (talk) 16:15, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Population 2016?

[edit]

No source is given in the main article for the population, while the source given in the infobox is for 2011, but the population is given for 2016.--Wanfried-Dublin (talk) 16:36, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong source for population

[edit]

The population is given according to the 2016 census, but the source in the infobox is given for the 2011 census. Is it enough to give a wrong source if you want your edit not to be reverted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wanfried-Dublin (talkcontribs) 19:21, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
