Crystal Palace Circuit still in existence?
[edit]This article is written as though the motor racing circuit still exists in Crystal Palace Park - my edit to change that was undone. Any reason why? I jog round the park regularly and there is certainly no motor racing circuit there. Tiger999 (talk) 14:51, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- A greater part of the circuit is still extant, other than part of the main straight. North Tower Corner, The Glade Section (on the high ground adjacent to the concert bowl), the New Link (by the ski slope), the back straight alongside the Sports Centre, Anerley Ramp, Ramp Bend & Maxim Rise are all very much as they were when the circuit was in use. South Tower Corner has been altered in that vehicular access to the Park from Anerley Hill is via a quite steep slope which joins the Circuit from the "wrong" direction at the start of the Main Straight. It is true to say that if you did not know the track in its heyday, it would be easy to think that the tarmacked areas are just access roads, as that is what they are used for & other signs of the circuit (pits, barriers, signs etc.) have largely been removed. The circuit was used in the filming of "Rush" the 2013 released story of James Hunt & Niki Lauda. South Tower Corner was recreated for this as it was the site of a notable incident in Hunt's early career. Maps/plans of the circuit here Eagleash (talk) 22:43, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
