[edit]

Cumberland Township lies in the eastern part of Greene county Pennsylvania. The population of about 7,500 is the largest concentration of persons in the county of any area. In the middle of the township sits Carmichaels borough. Other areas of Cumberland Township include the village of Nemacolin, Fairdale, village of Crucible, khedive, Stringtown, Paisley, Carmichaels (except NOT Carmichaels Borough), Little Chicago to name a few. The area was built on the coal industry until the decline of coal mining in the mid-1980's. The Township is diverse in nature. Today gas and oil well drilling are predominant, although farming and manufactoring also play a role in the Township economic status. The Township is served by the Carmichaels and Cumberland Township School District and Carmichaels and Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Department. Cumberland Township has its own police force and the Township Municipal building is located at 100 Municipal Road, in Carmichaels.

Although confusing to some, the Cumberland Township Police Department does not cover the Carmichaels Borough area. Carmichaels Borough, although surrounded by Cumberland Township, is its own entity and has it's own Police Department which covers only the area within the Borough limits.

The Cumberland Township Police Department's website can be found at www.CumberlandTwpPolice.com
