[edit]This compound (page name) should not be listed under its trademarked name, but rather the most common compound name (triethylenediamine). I don't know how to change page names or if changing that text causes problems with links. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JLeditor (talk • contribs) 20:51, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- the name possibly existed already before it was trademarked with that name V8rik (talk) 19:58, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
- My point remains the same: chemical compounds should be listed under their chemical or at least most common chemical name, not under some acronym or other plain-text mark. Does anyone know if page titles can be changed without impacting links to it? JLeditor (talk) 18:12, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- DABCO is the common name. I've never heard a chemist call it anything else. Per WP:COMMONNAME, this article shouldn't be renamed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.139.57.253 (talk) 22:37, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- European chemists tend to refer to the compound as triethylenediamine, and it is necessarily marketed under that name by Air Products' competitors, who cannot use the DABCO name. 206.16.109.32 (talk) 22:18, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

HOMO splitting
[edit]There is a splitting of the two "N-centered" HOMO's of 2.1 eV because of interaction of the lone electron pairs with the C-C sigma- and C-C sigma* - MO of the ethylbridge. This is one of the classical examples for through bond and through space interactions described by the extended hückel theory.
-maybe someone whose english is better than mine and who is a bit more into the topic should be adding that. here's a source: http://www.nrcresearchpress.com/doi/abs/10.1139/v01-201

DABCO
[edit]DABCO is the GENERIC trademark from Air Products for their line of additives for polyurethane.
This article refers to triethylenediamine, cas # 280-57-9 in its pure form (crystals). The Air Products name for it is DABCO Crystalline.
The Air Products technical data sheet can be found here: http://www.airproducts.com/~/media/downloads/d/dabco-crystalline/data-sheets/en-dabco-crystalline-datasheet-140-11-050.pdf?industryItem=Home%20Root&subIndustryItem=industries&segment=RubberPlastics&applicationChildItem=Elastomers&productLevel3=Dabco-Crystalline — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.29.62.199 (talk) 17:47, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
Added both triethylenediamine and TEDA to the lead
[edit]Yes, both terms already appeared as other names in the {{chembox}}, but that's not a place that lay readers would necessarily know to look. Nor does it render them particularly prominent. Furthermore, the controversy here on the talk page about how the article should be titled suggests that we had some way to go in rendering the article more user-friendly. So I made the edit per both Wikipedia's principal of least astonishment and its manual of style.—PaulTanenbaum (talk) 13:08, 17 March 2022 (UTC)
