Hello GrahamHardy, I noticed that you recently made a few slight modifications to the titles of the categories at the bottom of this article, adding the artist's name, so for example Category:Icelandic musicians became Category:Icelandic musicians|Dadi Freyr. The practical result appears to be the same so I'm curious to know, was there a particular reason you made those edits? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 19:06, 25 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi apologies for the delay, I would normally put Freyr, Dadi in the DEFAULTSORT at the top, then I noticed the mononym Daði so I changed it back to be safer. I would prefer to change it but if Dadi is the main name I guess I ought to leave it as is rather than to change it to Freyr, Dadi in the DEFAULTSORT...GrahamHardy (talk) 15:18, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, to be honest, this isn't a big deal and I won't change it back, because I don't want to get into any more of a edit war. The reason I changed it back to begin with, is because he was performing one song during a show. That was his performance in itself. If it was just one song during a set, then yes played would be more appropriate. It felt like an unnecessary edit on your behalf. I had no issues with your other changes, other than the collaborate section. Your initial change was worded poorly and removed the context that the word collaborate has in music. Worked on can mean that he was a session musician, compared to a collaboration which almost always means that they made the song together.
@Basetornado, please address each issue individually. If your beef is with the difference between "played" and "performed", then let's talk about that and leave other edits that you dislike out of it, since as it is, your comment just reads like a peeved critique of my work.
The distinction you present between play and perform is valid, and I'm happy to use "performed" instead of "played", though I think it would be ideal to avoid repetition of the word in the same sentence. Any suggestions? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 15:01, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The suggestion is just to replace the words and then remove the second performing if that's an issue for you. I don't really think it's necessary to remove the second, because it reads naturally with it, compared to without it. Basetornado (talk) 23:41, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
