Disputed LEJOG world record
[edit]Dan Lawson is clearly and indisputedly a world class runner, but the official World Record as vetted and certified by Guinness World Records is currently held by Andrew Rivett. It is true that this record is disputed by some, however the original submission Rivett followed the GWR due process and was certified by GWR based on a range of evidence provided, meeting GWR's criteria and standards for evidence submission.
Guiness are generally considered to be a reliable arbiter of world records and Wikipedia specifically considers Guiness to be a "credible and reliable source".
Not mentioning the official GWR record in this article would be disingenuous. I've flagged the claim as "disputed" according the Wikipedia's accuracy guidelines and I've added the relevant fact about the official record holder.
GWR have their own well-documented dispute resolution process. In the event that they overturn their earlier decision based on new evidence, then this page should be updated to reflect the new record holder. But until that time, Rivett is the official GWR record holder and that fact needs to be reflected here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Solipsia (talk • contribs) 13:05, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
