Inclusion of quotes[edit]

On May 13, 2013 Wikipedian Bobrayner deleted the "Quotes" section of this page with the comment "Do we really need a giant quotefarm?"

I have reviewed Wikipedia editorial guidelines, which clearly support this: "Do not insert any number of quotations in a stand-alone quote section."

However, I suspect these quotes are useful to readers (I myself came to this page specifically to draw on those quotes), as Fleming was a writer and speaker, and reviewers of his work have commented that his style is unusual, humourous and hard to characterise. Hence some examples are helpful.

Accordingly, I have created a page for David Fleming on Wikiquote and included the deleted quotes there. I have also added an interwikimedia link box to the external links section, pointing at this new Wikiquote page. Since the work of collecting and referencing these quotes had already been done, it seemed a real shame to lose it all.

Hopefully this has improved the resources available on David Fleming.

PS - As a novice Wikipedian, this is my first time using the talk page functionality, so please forgive (and educate!) me if I am doing it wrong. Cheers. Shaunus4 (talk) 20:51, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That looks like a good solution. Nice work; thanks! bobrayner (talk) 21:06, 15 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The link to WikiQuote doesn’t appear to work, it directs page to this page Ambitus (talk) 12:31, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake - the WikiQuote page just looks very similar - same photograph, for example Ambitus (talk) 12:34, 21 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
