Bonfires

[edit]

It was customary for Medrose and Pengelly to try to keep their respective bonfires going for as long as possible after November 5th. A corollary of this was that members of one party would sometimes attempt to hasten the flickering out of the other's bonfire. Whathojeeves 19:43, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Map position

[edit]

The red spot on the map is in the wrong place: that position is approximately correct for Crackington Haven, but Delabole is inland and between one and two miles south of Tintagel Head. WikiProject Cornwall label is lacking for this article--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 19:17, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See below regarding the map. As to the WikiProject Cornwall tag why not add it? it's already on this page. Andy F (talk) 23:04, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The position marked on the map is still in need of correction.----Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 07:37, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've just wasted half-anhour on this, double-checking the co-ords on several sites, dpuble-checking the OS grid ref, fiddling with the info box. I can't get the map to display the correct location. Anyone else fancy a go? Andy F (talk) 17:21, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Note: This subject is discussed further here where the consensus is that the longitude and latitude co-ordinates and the Ordnance Survey grid refrence are all correct but that the map display is a few pixels out of position. Andy F (talk) 12:53, 26 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Highest villages

[edit]

In the Minions article: "Minions is said to be the highest village in Cornwall", that village was in Caradon and some 990 ft high. St Cleer and St Breward are about the same height as Delabole but I am not sure which are the three highest in North Cornwall District. Bolventor is highest but may not be a village.--Felix Folio Secundus (talk) 06:39, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Delabole is said to be the third highest village in Cornwall (the highest is said to be Minions, formerly in Caradon)" This is not information. I suggest it's removed.Jimjamjak (talk) 16:22, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Civil parish

[edit]

According to reports in the local press, Delabole was getting a new parish council, seperate from St Teath, from the local elections in May 2021. See Inside Cornish village which is finally getting its own parish council and New parish of Delabole. See also Statement as to persons nominated. DuncanHill (talk) 20:04, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
