Where did the info on % of Roman Catholics come from?
The citation in this article indicates Census but leads to the CIA publication and not to the census. (The census does not ask people to identify a specific religion.)
The most recent CIA workbook shows 85% Catholic but that is definitely wrong based on other sources. The data chart in this article shows a lower % of Catholics. It makes sense but what is the source for that data? And the date the data was obtained? I need to know because Religion is also discussed in the Puerto Rico article ... the chart there is probably based on false data (Pew Research). I could not find the 2011 Pew report that is referred to, but see below for their 2013 report.
A 2013 Pew Research survey found that only about 45% of Puerto Rican adults identified themselves as Catholic, 29% as Protestant and 20% as unaffiliated with a religion The people surveyed by Pew however, consisted of Puerto Ricans living in the 50 states and DC and may not be indicative of those living in the Commonwealth http://www.pewhispanic.org/2015/09/15/hispanics-of-puerto-rican-origin-in-the-united-states-2013/ |quote=Puerto Ricans in this statistical profile are people who self-identified as Hispanics of Puerto Rican origin; this means either they themselves were born in Puerto Rico1 or they were born in the 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia or elsewhere, but trace their family ancestry to Puerto Rico
The CIA World Factbook .... no info as to date or source of the data https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/rq.html |title=Puerto Rico - People and Society
An Associated Press article on the FOX News web site in March 2014 stated that "more than 70 percent of whom identify themselves as Catholic" but provided no source for this information. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2014/03/12/catholic-church-and-puerto-rico-officials-at-odds-in-widening-sex-abuse.html Peter K Burian (talk) 03:47, 18 February 2017 (UTC)
