Questions / clarifications

[edit]

1. Is it Drake or Drakes? Even their own website flips from one to another.

2. The branding/franchising part is damn confusing i.e. Drake operating as IGA or Foodland. I get that he effectively just runs 30 IGA/Foodland franchises and has slapped his own brand over the top, but why bother paying royalties to others if the "Drake" brand is sufficient? If in fact Drake is the largest independent chain in SA as the article says, then they are actually larger than Foodland. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.122.227.125 (talk) 12:32, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Answer to Q2 Foodland is owned by Families, They all band together to keep there Identities whilst having Foodland's Brand, so they can be strong against Coles and Woolworths. Foodland is bigger than Drake, with all stores equaling 118, they Do not pay Royalties to use the brand.
