hydrogen gas?[edit]

this is the first I've heard of hydrogen at Echo Mountain. I don't know that it's wrong, but I just got back from a hike up there, and the signs at the location described a tank for gasoline that was piped up to run the generators, but nothing I noticed about hydrogen. I'll take a look at some of my Altadena history books, but unless there were blimps or something I can't think of what craziness would lead to piping hydrogen around.

I believe that I see in the photo of Echo Mountain the remains of the Caltech T on the side of the mountain. This extends vertically about 400 feet and was created by a brush-clearing expedition of the students of Throop Polytechnic Institute on a special school holiday on Christmas, 1916 IIRC. Another expedition of students to Long Beach, CA immediately reported that the T was legible at that distance. A few years later Throop Polytechnic was renamed California Institute of Technology and retained the T monogram. The T has remained clearly visible on the school's Pasadena campus for most of the years since it appeared. 76.115.186.134 (talk) 00:36, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would rate it Start class but without references, it's only a stub no matter how long it is. RedWolf (talk) 17:51, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
