  • Is a citation really needed to list that Eden Prairie is colloquially referred to as "EP?" As an Eden Prairie resident, I can verify that this is true.

In one way, WP allows Consensus to dictate that we accept that Eden Prairians use EP. However I added a source just to further solidify it. .:davumaya:. 18:31, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:EPMNlogo.jpg[edit]

Nuvola apps important.svg

Image:EPMNlogo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any DFGHJDFGHRFDquestions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

==Demographics== For some reason anonymous IPs AND registered users find it amusing to change the demographic section back to what they think are the "real" demographics (ie 90% instead of 76% white). As it standards the current Census source states 90% and that's where it stands. .:davumaya:. 18:33, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

People also seem to find it amusing to add a tens digit to the statistics relating to poverty, making it 12.8% of families and 13.5% of individuals under the poverty line rather than the proper 2.8% and 3.5%, respectively. .:gryps5:. —Preceding undated comment added 17:47, 3 August 2010 (UTC).

Image copyright problem with Image:FaustEdgeEdenPrairieMN.jpg[edit]

The image Image:FaustEdgeEdenPrairieMN.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --04:07, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Notable Natives[edit]

I added Kris Humphries to the list. His wiki page doesn't say where he is from, only that he went to high school in Hopkins. He transferred there, but grew up in Eden Prairie. I believe he and my friend still hold a national varsity swimming record from when he was in 8th grade. Minnesota cold (talk) 08:47, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

Etymology attribution incorrect?[edit]

Article currently claims, under the Etymology heading: "The name "Eden Prairie" came from founder Robert Anderson, who was reminded by the locale of the Garden of Eden."

However, from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_F._Ellet: Ellet's book "Summer Rambles in the West ... was inspired by a boating trip along the Minnesota River in 1852. The local town, Eden Prairie, Minnesota, got its name from Ellet and has dedicated a nature trail in her honor."[26]

The footnote leads to this 2007 Eden Prairie Sun-Current article (about the opening of that trail), which several times credits Ellet with naming EP, including this quote: "that is now called Eden Prairie because she declared it to be “the garden spot of the territory.” http://www.writersrisingup.org/efeinterpretivetrail/docs/Grand_Opening_2007.pdf 24.128.188.152 (talk) 04:44, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Well, I just found this on the city's own website, so I'm going to change it: "The City owes its name to Elizabeth Fries Ellet, an East Coast writer who visited the area and proclaimed it to be the garden spot of the territory." http://www.edenprairie.org/vCurrent/live/article.asp?r=1330 24.128.188.152 (talk) 04:55, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
