Some day, it may be a good idea to have a wikipedia section where changes in different editions of text book are highlighted. This would serve two uses:

  1. It would increase the value of old editions of the books since one can easily judge whether the changes in a text book edition are worth investing in a new text edition.
  2. It would discourage publishers from releasing text book editions that only incorporate cosmetic changes. This would work as such a move would easily backfire when the first point reach maturity.
