Notability

I believe this person fits the notability guidelines outlined in Wikipedia:Notability (academics) as the following criteria is closely met.

Criterion 7 applies, because his work was brought up multiple times by the New York Times.
Criterion 1 might apply due to his documentation of flora and the geology surrounding Western Lake Erie, as well as his work in documenting Milk Sickness and work in Dendrochronology.

I believe he also loosely fits many of the other Criterion, but Criterion 7 and possibly Criterion 1 offer the strongest match.
