Reworded musical style/genre section, tracklist title edits
[edit]I re-worded some phrases in the musical style section for clarity. I’ve also removed Shelby Lynne from some track titles, as she is not credited in the track titles on any release. Since she takes lead vocals on a verse in track 5, an exception here doesn’t seem unreasonable. Lastly, for genre tags I’ve removed the separate “pop” and “rock” genre entries, in favor of a single “pop rock” genre here instead. There is only one publication cited that refers solely to “pop” (Glide), and the other was in the context of the phrase “pop and rock” – which to me, is synonymous with the term “pop rock”. I’m adding the “roots rock” genre tag here as it is referenced in more than one of the previously cited publications. --UnsungHeroWiki (talk) 04:28, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
Quotations
[edit]I removed part of a longer quote, but the article is still somewhat dependent on quotations. We should also make sure the coverage isn't unduely favorable and that the reviews haven't been cherry picked. I'll take a second look later tonight when I get home - need to review the manual acceptance process or have the redirect speedied first and I don't want to mess up. Thanks, I appreciate all of your feedback! I added some prose in place of quotations and made sure all available reviews on Metacritic are now included. I made sure the discussion of reviews spans from the most to least positive, so it should be a neutral representation. The Wallflowers main page and their discography now link to here, it shouldn't be an orphan any more. Let me know if any other issues stand out. Thanks again! Genre designation
[edit]I see that a recent change was made by a user who made the change in the infobox in genre from "Alternative rock" and "folk rock" to "pop" and "pop punk" the edit noted said "genres per sources" but I did not see any inline citations made. Perhaps I missed the sources the user was citing? I reverted this change because I could not find any sources for this edit. Curious to hear anyone else's thoughts. Thank you! --UnsungHeroWiki (talk) 18:51, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
- I mistakenly typed pop punk when I intended power pop.
- Otherwise, I was taking my sourcing from the cited reviews. I put some of that material into prose in a new section about musical style. Binksternet (talk) 20:52, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
- No worries that makes sense! I just thought it was someone hacking away :) UnsungHeroWiki (talk) 01:41, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
Intro revision
[edit]I replaced the Top Rock Albums chart position in the introduction with its No. 3 chart position from Billboard's Top Album Sales chart. There was a Billboard article (cited) with a headline about this chart entry, making it the more notable chart position between the two. UnsungHeroWiki (talk) 16:30, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
