Section for delays

[edit]

I think the number of delays are already enough to fill a whole section... well, rumors is that it's coming out March/April. Anyone want to update the profile? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.103.253.233 (talk) 15:25, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You have the myspace link to a fake site. It should be http://www.myspace.com/fanboysmovie —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fanboysmovie (talkcontribs) 22:18, 23 March 2008 (UTC) Like it originally was www.myspace.com/fanboysmovie Fanboysmovie (talk) 22:23, 23 March 2008 (UTC) Yes, you're the only site on the internet with the wrong Fanboys myspace link. It should be corrected to http://www.myspace.com/fanboysmovie —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.103.179.197 (talk) 00:02, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The offical site is http://www.myspace.com/fanboysfilm. The other one is fake. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.137.237 (talk) 16:00, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why the hell was my link taken down it is THE OFFICAL LINK TO THE MYSPACE FOR FANBOYS. The one you have is the one ran by the people behind the whole Darth Wenstein thing. It is NOT offical. Isn't Wikipedia suppsoe to onl;y use Offical links. Then why us a fake one. Also if you want proof. Both Kyle Newman(The director of the movie) and Kristen Bell(one of the stars of the movie) have it on there top firends area. They do not have the one you us here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.137.237 (talk) 17:03, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Whoever added the right link thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.37.137.237 (talk) 18:05, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It has come to our attention that Wikipedia has once again changed the official http://www.myspace.com/fanboysmovie Myspace link to a fake site. The above unsigned comment(s) was written purely by a fan with bad spelling and grammer. Do not let this person fool Wikipedia. http://www.myspace.com/fanboysmovie is, in fact, run by the people here at The Weinstein Co. and not that "whole Darth Weinstein thing". We find this amusing. http://www.myspace.com/fanboysmovie IS the official site that also owns the official Myspace Fanboys group located at http://groups.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=groups.groupProfile&groupID=106544788. We created the official http://www.myspace.com/fanboysmovie Myspace page on August 19, 2007 in anticipation of the August release last year. We currently have 19,229 friends at the time of this writing. Your (actual) fake fanboysfilm site listed above was created Feb. 27 of this year and has a mere 184 friends. It was obviously created by a fan who copied our site. That person calls thier site the "Official Fanboys Myspace". We don't need to call ours "official" to actually be official. It's not hard to tell the difference between the two. In the end http://www.myspace.com/fanboysmovie is the correct site simply called Fanboys. We don't have to call ourselves "official" to be official. Thank you for your time. Fanboysmovie (talk) 06:36, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I know for a fact that the official Fanboys MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/fanboysfilm) is NOT run by a fan but by someone who is actively involved in the movie. It is also not affiliated with the Stop Darth Weinstein campaign. Have you taken a look at it? There is no link or even any mention of SDW on their page. Also please notice how both Kyle Newman and Ernie Cline have the official Fanboys MS page as their top friend. Also, if the owners of the other Fanboys MS (http://www.myspace.com/fanboysmovie) claim they are running the site for the Weinstein Co., then it shows me just how much they care about the movie and promoting it properly. The fact that they have over 19,000 friends doesn't make up for the fact that the design of that page looks anything but professional. I'm not lobbying for the official MS page, why don't you guys just list both MS pages in the wiki links? Or is that not allowed? I don't believe any of these sites is a "fake", as you call it. They're both pages to promote the movie Fanboys and both have their merit. (talk) 15:52, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dudes, http://www.myspace.com/fanboysmovie is the actual real MySpace site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.142.123.218 (talk) 02:34, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but I just can't see why everyone is so convinced that that MySpace page is official. It used to call itself "the original Fanboys MySpace page", not "the official Fanboys MySpace page". Now it just says "the real Fanboys MySpace page". Is it the Weinstein logo at the top? I'm sorry, but anyone can slap a Weinstein logo onto their page. Fact is, they stole two of my images and put them into their page as their own without asking for permission or giving credit. One of those they are using as their contact table background as if it was designed for their page. Well, it wasn't and I asked them to remove it, which they didn't. They reposted one of my Fanboys articles without asking (and botched it up too so that none of the graphics show up). The design of their page looks anything but professional. If it is indeed the movie's official MySpace page, it's a poor representation of a wonderful comedy that deserves a lot better. TJ TeeJay (talk) 18:47, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New developments

[edit]

Just got this from AICN here. The Rebellion has won, Weinstein have chosen to go with the original cut. The Force is with us! Katana Geldar 13:56, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate tone

[edit]

There is an Inappropriate tone template on the article. Does anyone know why and, if not, should it be removed? -- JediLofty UserTalk 16:17, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see anything wrong with the tone. It could use a spot of cleanup, but nothing to get into a twist over. Since there was no reason given for the tag, I'll go ahead and remove it. -- ShinmaWa(talk) 08:01, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Plot Summary

[edit]

The plot summary is too long for the length of the article and possibly needs a spoiler alert. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.231.129.49 (talk) 11:09, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cancer Plot removed

[edit]

I don't have the time to make the edits myself, but if any of you look at the official website, IMDb, or myspace page, you will notice that there is no mention of cancer in the current plot. 173.52.140.236 (talk) 23:24, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cast

[edit]

I would like to add the cast section to the article.Sha-Sanio (talk) 10:45, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Remake?

[edit]

Is this movie just a remake of the 2003 New Zealand Film of the same name? Because it sure as Hell seems to have a similar plot. Think this probably should be looked into. –99.191.229.153 (talk) 16:39, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say looks really similar should be looked into and mentioned. 125.236.154.70 (talk) 04:41, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Learn to read... it is and it is noted! 125.236.154.70 (talk) 05:43, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No it isn't.--E tac (talk) 06:44, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Year of release

[edit]

I've moved the page back to Fanboys (2009 film) - another editor had moved it to Fanboys (2008 film), based on the premiere date - this is incorrect, as the 2008 screening was not an actual premiere, the actual release date, or indeed, the first screening, as screenings had taken place as early as 2007. Since the film didn't go into wide release until 2009, that should remain as the year in the title disambiguation. TheRealFennShysa (talk) 15:34, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That would seem to be inconsistent with the IMDb record Fanboys (2008) - Release dates 20:35, 22 August 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bchabala2 (talkcontribs)

I looked into that, since Typhoon96 moved the article again today - according to the schedules posted for the 2008 Comic-Con International Film Festival, not only did Fanboys not screen in the festival, the July 31 date is a week after the convention. As that date is clearly in error, I moved the page back to the prior version. MikeWazowski (talk) 14:20, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What about the film itself having a ©2008 date in the credits ? —MJBurrage(TC) 20:55, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin Smith

[edit]

In the article Kevin Smith filmography it says that Kevin Smith is the director. --84.113.33.181 (talk) 10:39, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Background of the movie's concept?

[edit]

I can remember being on theforce.net around the same time as TPM was being released...and this project was being discussed, in more of a fanfilm vein. Does anyone know anything, or more evidence to back this up? I think it'd be a nice addition to the article. LacertaRex (talk) 08:28, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The 40-Year-Old Virgin

[edit]

The poster is obviously derived from the poster to The 40-Year-Old Virgin, but I don't have an authoritative citation nor do I see a good place to insert such an observation into the article:
