According to Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra § Music directors (Gewandhauskapellmeister), David served as music director of that orchestra for two relatively brief spans separated by a ten-year gap, the second span occurring during Julius Rietz's 12-year tenure. Yet this article doesn't even mention that position, and the other doesn't discuss the gap beyond the mention in this list:
