Added notability-relevant info
[edit]I added the following statement (with references):
“The journal is held in all major academic libraries in Sweden. It is also frequently cited in national Swedish newspapers such as Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet.”
In WP:Notability (academic journals), it is stated that if the journal meets one of three criteria, it qualifies for a stand-alone article. Criterion 2 (C2) states that ”The journal is frequently cited by other reliable sources.”. According to WP:Notability (academic journals), C2 is is satisfied “if the journal is frequently quoted in conventional media”. It also states that “[f]or journals in humanities, the existing citation indices and Google Scholar often provide inadequate and incomplete information. In these cases, one can also look at how frequently the journal is held in various academic libraries when evaluating whether C2 is satisfied.”
For this reason, the statement above seems appropriate.--Max Qaly (talk) 08:56, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, to say that "The journal is held in all major academic libraries in Sweden", you need a reliable sources independent of the journal, its editors, or its publisher that says exactly that. A library catalog listing libraries that hold the journal is insufficient, as it only shows that the journal is held by libraries in Sweden, not "all major academic libraries". To conclude that from this list is original research, which is not admissible here. The same goes for the "frequently cited". To add that to the article, you need a source that says that it is frequently cited. Hope this explains. --Randykitty (talk) 11:03, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the reply. WP:Notability (academic journals) says that "one can also look at how frequently the journal is held in various academic libraries when evaluating whether C2 is satisfied. This information is often available in Worldcat, but other sources can be found on the book sources page, at the Karlsruhe Virtual Catalog, or at the Zeitschriftendatenbank. Data on library holdings need to be interpreted in the light of what can be expected for the specific subject." Given that lists from Worldcat are acceptable, it seems clear that a list from the National Library of Sweden should also be considered a reliable source for this kind of claim.--Max Qaly (talk) 11:19, 21 July 2017 (UTC) (edit: I added the information anew, but rephrased to avoid the potential problems you mentioned above)--Max Qaly (talk) 11:30, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
