Dear Fellow Wikipedians, I am a staff member of The BMJ and am trying to simplify and shorten the wikipedia entries of 3 of our key editors and standardise the sections as Education, Career, Other. Two of these editors have an existing wikipedia page, and one does not. These are Fiona Godlee, Kamran Abbasi, Theo Bloom (the latter of which would be a new entry). I would like to replace the current Fiona Godlee entry with the following, and have been advised by another Wikipedia editor to put this here on the Talk page first. Who needs to check this and when can I edit the substantive page--or does someone else need to do that? David Allen, The bMJ

Fiona Godlee (born August 4, 1961) has been editor in chief of the BMJ since 2005; she is the first female editor appointed in the journal's history.[1] Fiona is also Editorial Director of BMJ the company, responsible for ensuring editorial integrity across the business.

Education Educated at Bedales and Marlborough College, Fiona qualified as a doctor in 1985 at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine, having studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, then trained as a general physician in London.

Career Since 1990 Fiona has written on a broad range of issues for BMJ, including the impact of environmental degradation on health, the future of the World Health Organisation, the ethics of academic publication, and the problems of editorial peer review.[1] In 1994, she spent a year at Harvard University as a Harkness Fellow evaluating efforts to bridge the gap between medical research and practice. On returning to the UK, she led the development of BMJ Clinical Evidence, which evaluates the best available evidence on the benefits and harms of treatments[2] and is now provided worldwide to over a million clinicians in 9 languages. In 2000, she moved to Current Science Group to help establish the open access online publisher BioMedCentral as Editorial Director for Medicine.[3] In 2003, she returned to the BMJ Group to head up its new Knowledge division. Editor in chief of The BMJ since 2005, Fiona is also Editorial director and board member of BMJ, a publisher of over 60 learned journals. Other Fiona Godlee is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.[1] She has served as President of the World Association of Medical Editors (from January 2000 to December 2001)[4]and Chair of the Committee on Publication Ethics (from 2004 on)[5][6]. She served on the advisory board of the Nordic Cochrane Centre from 2006 until January 2015 and is co-editor of Peer Review in Health Sciences. Godlee also serves as vice-chair and an executive member of the board of the Climate and Health Council.[2] Fiona lives in Cambridge with her husband and two children. She is a great granddaughter of the physicist Sir Oliver Lodge, and a great great great grand daughter of Joseph Jackson Lister, pioneer of the compound microscope and father of antisepsis pioneer Joseph Lister, 1st Baron Lister.[7] — Preceding unsigned comment added by DavidAllen,TheBMJ (talkcontribs) 16:33, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
