Personal note

[edit]

Here's a note someone left in the article, intended as a correction:

  • Correction Note**
    • With all due respect i'd like to make a correction on the above information for histories sake.I've lived in this area for 45 years and studied it's past history for most of that time.I played at the train depot/station as a young kid and I can assure you that the depot has been gone for many years, torn down in the early to mid 1970's as I recall,it's no longer here as is the case with most of the historical buildings in this area, very few are left. The station which housed one of Lithia's very first Post Office buildings was at the corner of Lithia Pinecrest Rd. and Boyette Rd..It sat between Boyette Rd. and where the old train tracks ran, which was the west side of Boyette Rd. directly across the street from what is currently Formaggio's Pizza as of this date of Mar.27,2012 ...hope this helps clarify it's location.**

Name

[edit]

This place was named after Litle Fishhawk Creek. Most documents record it subtly differently as FishHawk, but a few government entities over time have screwed it up by adding a space and making "Fish" and "Hawk" two separate words. The usage is now all over the board. The "official" gnis database has it as two words, and an editor has appropriately moved it as such. I will do my best to preserve the original name where appropriate, for instance in the name of the creek, school, neighborhood, streets. Sorry FishHawk!Jacona (talk) 18:25, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Damnit, I was trying to prevent errors with the naming! I was so close! I'll copy and paste what I just replied to you from my talk page:
  • Very legit concerns you raise and when I did the page move, I was surprised that no error popped up in the move. I will admit that CDPs like this are a pain especially when the CDP comes from the development because editors will come in and add info about the development and not the actual Census entity that made the article: the CDP.
  • WP:COMMONNAME could be used for the geoname entity and a case for "FishHawk" would be sufficient if ever raised.
  • I don't think any misspelling happened, it looks like they attempted to trademark "FishHawk" as "Fish Hawk" would be generic to prevent establishing trademark. I decided to look at the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, the regional authority responsible to look over Developments of Regional Impact (DRIs) as Development Orders are established and processed to these entities before it's submitted to the State Legislative. *breathes* So the authority listed the status of ALL DRIs in the Tampa Bay Area (Manatee, Hillsborough, and Pasco County). It looks like Fishhawk Ranch was adopted in 1989 with a built-out date in 2016. However, a look in the DO sees a built-out date past that and I don't know how DRIs are processed fully nowadays with the new bill gutting out more of it and essentially giving the respective Counties more control over them versus the state. (I think already approved DOs still go to the state but....back to the point...) The documentation just confirms more confusion - Fishhawk, Fish Hawk, and FishHawk are all used. In summary, my head hurts. The confusion is very real.

More info:

  1. Little Fishhawk Creek, as JaconaFrere mentioned. [1]
  2. Fishhawk Creek, while we're at it. [2]
  3. Fishhawk Ranch is an established populated place [3] (Hello, new article)
  4. Fish Hawk, the CDP. [4]
  5. Fish Hawk Trails [5]
  6. Fish Hawk Farms [6]

I see FishHawk Boulevard on the street signs and throughout the streets in the area. Along with FishHawk Ranch. I shouldn't have explored more into this. – TheGridExe (talk) 20:03, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
