Wording

"It has a sour, slightly acidic taste."

This we read in the lede.

This is rather redundant, and perhaps there is a better way of expressing what the writer meant. "Acidic" (in the gustatory context) and "sour" mean the same thing, for the only reason that anything ever tastes sour is the presence of some kind of acid in it (with lemon juice, this is citric acid, with vinegar, acetic acid, and with spoilt milk, lactic acid, to name three examples).

Now, I don't know what a beefsteak fungus tastes like, never having eaten it. So, perhaps somebody who does know the flavour can find a better way to describe it. Kelisi (talk) 04:35, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
