It's about the only fort that the Spaniards had in British Columbia. Onofre Bouvila 18:26, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name origin

I'm curious as to why it's named for San Miguel....was it founded on Saint Michael's Day or is it because it has a height of ground (St Michael is associated with mountaintops). I'd thought maybe on the name day of the Spanish king at the time, but that was a Charles (III maybe)...unless Miguel was his princely name before his accession. There's nothing in BC Names for the fort and nothing about its name origin there (Santa Cruz de Nuca is also not listed there).Skookum1 (talk) 02:49, 17 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
