Merge from Fort Walsh, Saskatchewan[edit]

Since disambiguation is not needed Fort Walsh seems the obvious title here, but there doesn't seem to be a need for two articles huh? It's not quite the same as Fort Langley, where the National Historic Site and the community are separate entities, though at the same location. This article needs HUGE cleanup, and IMO should probably be checked for COPYVIO unless its massive length is simply the product of a zealous writer who integrated material from different sources....usually this kind of thing is "boilerplate" though.....essay/language problems, and line citations are needed and so on, a map would be good too.....Skookum1 (talk) 04:01, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the merge, it doesn't seem controversial so it can prob be done without discussion. Note that Fort Henry, Ontario is an article on both the National Historic Site and the fort itself (confirming that there is no real need for two separate articles). thanks, don't know much about Saskatchewan myself so....I'd found while looking at the HBC forts category, trying to figure out which one was on Teslin Lake so I could amend other articles (one of the BCGNIS refs for Indian Reserves on the lake mentions it....ring a bell?Skookum1 (talk) 04:25, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm only somewhat familiar with Saskatchewan topics, but I have little more than my elementary-school history knowledge on forts, so I can't help you too much there... The only things I can find with google is a "Teslin Trading Post" (see http://www.teslin.ca/, mentionned in Teslin, Yukon); there isn't anything on Parks Canada, so it seems as though it was a pretty minor post. -M.Nelson (talk) 04:46, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adding a Historical Section to the Article[edit]

I plan to add to this article because Fort Walsh was a setting for several significant indigenous interactions, disease outbreaks, and the site’s eventual closure. I will not focus my efforts on the Cypress Hills massacre because that is a separate article that requires its own contribution. I intend to create a substantial historical section in this Wikipedia article. I'm reviewing a variety of sources to compile an overview of historical events relevant to this location.
