Article Scope[edit]

The title of this article implies a single plant, when Foxconn's project in Wisconsin is a series of office buildings, "innovation centers," a data center, and a few factories in Mount Pleasant.

The header of this article states "The Foxconn plant in southeastern Wisconsin is a project to ostensibly build a $10 billion flat screen TV and LCD panel manufacturing plant in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin that was originally slated to employ 13,000 people." But the body of the article covers other activities such as empty innovation centers, construction work on other buildings, and subsidies for the project as a whole.

My question is: Should the scope of this article encompass:

  • Foxconn's Wisconsin LCD Fabrication Plant: The single LCD manufacturing plant, proposed in the original contract (see "Project" under Definitions), and currently not operational.
  • Wisconn Valley: The larger manufacturing campus in Mount Pleasant ("Wisconn Valley"), defined as the "Zone" in the Definitions of the original contract.
  • Foxconn In Wisconsin: All Foxconn operations and activities in Wisconsin.

I would personally propose "Foxconn in Wisconsin" since it looks like the original LCD fabrication plant is no longer the focus of activities in Wisconsin. "Wisconn Valley" is limited to the area in Mount Pleasant and would not cover innovation centers or the headquarters in the city of Milwaukee. Jeffboot (talk) 00:31, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that it makes sense to expand the article and probably end up with Foxconn In Wisconsin as the subject as I read the references. I would suggest editing the article and even changing the opening sentence but wait till to see how the edits pan out before moving the article to a new title as I am not convinced that Foxconn In Wisconsin is a good one. Typically I look for similar articles and match the style of those titles. Obviously the section headings are going to change also. Cheers, Fettlemap (talk) 01:07, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Because this is not unanimous, you'd probably want to follow Wikipedia:Requested_moves#Requesting_a_single_page_move--Epiphyllumlover (talk) 04:06, 20 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am all in on Foxconn in Wisconsin. That is what the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation came up with as a tagline. The current title is too limiting but a title to describe everything would be awkward. I have already created a new section that can be expanded using existing citations for other cities.
