Origin of the surname "Flamiano"
[edit]The Flamiano family name, which is common in the Philappines, is said to have originated from Gaius Flaminius. While I can not provide any citations at this time, perhaps someone would like to research this.
It is said that the descendants of Gaius Flaminius eventually migrated into Spain where the the name morphed into Flamianus, Flamianos and Flamiano. This was later carried into the Philappines by the Spaniards where "Flamiano" became common.
The Flamianos in the Philappines consider themselves of Spanish/Pinoy ancestry.
This is a story related to me by a member of the Flamiano family whose Filappino grandfather joined the American Army and settled in the United States.

Dissertation
[edit]A dutch dissertation from 1937 the only reference - is'nt it a little bit poor? --Dlugacz (talk) 07:35, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
- I agree, I was about to add "citation needed" to it. This will all be from the ancient sources so the references will be Polybius, Plutarch, Dio and others like that (as Livy's biography of Flaminius would have been in the part now lost). GermanicusCaesar (talk) 13:39, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
