Content assessment

[edit]

I have today downgraded this article from B–class to C–class. The rating of B–class was made by Teatreez in October 2023, following extensive edits by this user over two days. Prior to the reassessment, the article was a Stub. Whilst recognising that assessment, especially in the B– and C–class categories contains some element of personal bias, the fact that the article relies heavily on two sources, firstly an online exhibition held by the University of Cape Town (essentially chapters from the online catalogue that could be a single-source, but quoted in the article as five different sources) and the synagogue's own article on its history (today tagged for WP:SPS), ring alarm bells with me. I often refer to this section in an essay on quality ratings when and if I appraise articles. It's my view that, at best, C–class assessment is warranted, in this instance. I make this assessment in the context of reviewing articles on synagogues across various continents, and having no association with this synagogue. As always, I'm happy to hear others' thoughts.
