Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... he controls the bitcoin source code and is one of the lead developers; he is important in the sense of his contributions to the bitcoin cryptocurrency development and deployment --Jadair10 (talk) 19:00, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... Gavin is also a contributor to other works (e.g. clearcoin). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jadair10 (talk • contribs) 21:59, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
4th/5th paragraphs order
[edit]Would it make more sense for these to be switched? The quote about Bitcoin comes before mentioning that he does work with Bitcoin. -KaJunl (talk) 16:28, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
I only saw a short paragraph and then 4 independent sentences pretending to be paragraphs. I am not certain about a speedy deletion but this entry needs work (more than switching sentences) if it wishes to remain as an encyclopedia article. 2601:4C2:4202:E5B0:20FD:202F:A6F1:3B01 (talk) 18:57, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
born as?
[edit]'born' is not correct because he himself stated his birth certificate was changed two times. The Ref has actually "Formerly known as".
8 Q [...]
9 Mr. Andresen, can you state your name
10 and date of birth for the record.
11 A Gavin Alexander Andresen,
12 1966
13 Q And is that your birth name?
14 A That is the name on my birth certificate.
15 Q That was an interesting response.
16 A It's complicated. I could get into it if
17 you really want.
18 Q Why don't you give me the 30-second
19 version. We'll see if it has any relevance.
20 A The 30-second version is, actually I was
21 born Gavin Alexander Andresen. My birth
22 certificate was changed to Gavin Alexander Bell,
23 when my mom married my dad way back in 1970 -- '70.
24 And then it was changed back, again -- I actually
25 changed my name back to Gavin Alexander Andresen.

- @Rob G Weemhoff: the issue now seems to be a wp:weight issue in the wp:infobox. Was he actually ever know as Bell in WP:RS? Or are you saying he was once Bell, but nobody called him that? If it is the latter we would not need to include that in the infobox as it would be WP:UNDUE weight in my opinion. Jtbobwaysf (talk) 12:06, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
- I am sorry, but I only mean that he factually was not born as Bell but for some unknown time was named Bell until he himself changed his name back. Rob G Weemhoff (talk) 14:26, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
