Merger[edit]

I think the contents of this article should be merged into the Foreign U-Boats page. - Adrian M. H. 21:27, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree, every other U-Boat has Her own article (see List of U-boats); Foreign U-Boats should be no different. --Bryson 22:51, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Capture?[edit]

The Foreign U-Boats were fashioned from captured submarines of other countries...'

Turkey was a neutral country. How was this ship captured? --Explendido Rocha 14:42, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
According to this the boat was built in Germany 1938-1939 as "Batiray", but taken into German service on 21 Sept, 1939.Drutt (talk) 14:33, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pedantic Point[edit]

Is the correct designation UA or U-A? ie. had there been another Turkish sub in German service, would it have been UA-2 or U-B, or something else? Drutt (talk) 13:45, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I see, according to Foreign U-Boats U-B refers to British boats, so a second Turkish vessel would be U-A2.Drutt (talk) 13:59, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

UA in WWI[edit]

There was apparently another boat named UA (or U-A) in WWI which was "stranded on Voorne Island, off Hellevoetsluis, 13th March, 1917, interned by Dutch government, and surrendered at Harwich, 25th February, 1919"[1]. Drutt (talk) 14:29, 30 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
