Responding to some of the many flags placed on this article
[edit]I really wouldn't mind seeing some clarification of the WP policy on high schools. It appears that every high school is eligible for a Wikipedia page as long as it demonstrates Wikipedia standards for neutrality and research and quality of writing. This is CERTAINLY the defacto policy as SO MANY high schools have been allowed a Wikipedia page that, to achieve consistency on this matter, somebody would need to delete the THOUSANDS of pages on high schools that are less notable than is Gilmer High School.
Furthermore, Gilmer High has some earmarks of true notability. The graduation rate and college bound rates are well above average for Georgia which is indicated in the article. Please note that I have no affiliation with Gilmer High School--I don't teach there, have a kid there, grandkid there, etc. In fact, the only thing I've ever done in Gilmer County is stop at the Mexican restaurant for dinner and a margarita on my way to Blue Ridge. So--no conflict.--Georgiasouthernlynn (talk) 19:18, 23 September 2010 (UTC) --Georgiasouthernlynn (talk) 22:15, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Conflict of Interest Disclosure
[edit]I am the primary author of this article and I admit that I am a graduate from Gilmer High School. I did not write this article to advertise Gilmer High School in anyway. I wrote this article as an assignment for my college composition class. I chose Gilmer High School as my topic because I knew about the subject and I knew I could write five hundred words or more on it. I have zero attachment to this school. I plan to never move back to Ellijay, Georgia and I no longer have any family that lives in Gilmer County. I believe I wrote this article fair and neutral as possible. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can improve my article or sees a place that needs to be reworded for neutrality please give feedback on the Gilmer High School discussion page. --caseysims81272 (talk) Casey 23:14, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
