Demographics
[edit]"There were 1,131 households out of which 24.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 33.33% had a female householder with no husband present, and 0% were non-families. 40.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 99.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.11 and the average family size was 2.83.
In the city the population was spread out with 20.9% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 21.7% from 25 to 44, 18.8% from 45 to 64, and 89.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 72.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $30,083, and the median income for a family was $11,999.21. Males had a median income of $22"
There are MANY obvious, and some probable, errors in the numbers given in the article, viz:
"and 0% were non-families" (really?) "99.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older" (obviously incorrect) "and 89.7% who were 65 years of age or older" (ditto) "and the median income for a family was $11,999.21" (doesn't seem like a correct number, compared to household) "Males had a median income of $22" (gosh, males have it tough in this community!?)
I do no know what the correct numbers are. Mesmer1944 (talk) 18:51, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
