The first awards were NOT given in 1955. As dates cited in the table, many were given before this Perhaps it should be stated that the modern awards began being given in 1955. They were awarded by Nazis during the Nazi period, and while I'm certain their modern sponsors disavow these, that doesn't mean that they don't exist and weren't awarded.
