About Reeves's injury

[edit]

Mr. User:MikeAllen seems to be unconvinced that Keanu Reeves being injured during principal photography is relevant to the film, or rather convinced they are irrelevant. I beg to disagree -- Here's why

  • The incident in question had enough media attention during the event to justify being notable
  • The injury had an effect on principal photography of the film, resulting in several scenes being delayed solely due to the injury
  • Months after the fact, trusted source The Hollywood Reporter wrote a headline article for the events months after the fact, with the director Aziz Ansari even addressing these events directly in the interview.

Mr. Allen seems to have removed these edits based on his opinion that since the "edits were made by a blocked user" (something along those lines) they must not be correct, and while blocked users are assumedly blocked for a good reason, the edits they make cannot be automatically considered as useless or unjustified. That would undermine the entire concept of Wikipedia and its viability. 72.49.224.146 (talk) 00:17, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I did not remove that he was injured on set. I removed this:
On January 25, Reeves was spotted on set with crutches and an ice pack on his left knee. At the time, it was unclear if the medical paraphernalia was worn as either part of his role or for the treatment of an actual on-set injury. Nonetheless, the viral images of Reeves posted online prompted worried reactions from fans, causing the hashtag #GetWellSoonKeanu to trend on Twitter. Days later, Reeves was seen standing on set without assistance.
Really? Why do we, as an encyclopedia, need this part included? Mike Allen 00:40, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Bold claims like these should have addtl. context. whenever production-impacting injuries/deaths occur. maybe rw to "media attention" based on how THR reports 2600:2B00:962E:3E00:ED3A:C271:46A:5123 (talk) 02:11, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the fact this gained attention over "fans r worried" 2600:2B00:962E:3E00:ED3A:C271:46A:5123 (talk) 02:14, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This isn't a blog. Mike Allen 13:01, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not to mention it is sourced to The News International and WION for so-called "significant media attention". Mike Allen 22:02, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
don't forget THR, a relied on source. 2600:2B00:962E:3E00:D86A:9E2C:4BFE:45CD (talk) 01:44, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Roman Reigns

[edit]

According to the unreliable source an IP added here about Roman Reigns being in the film: "According to IMDB, Reigns is involved in a film titled Good Fortune, featuring a star-studded cast including Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh, and others. Directed by Aziz Ansari, the film promises to be an action comedy, although specifics about the plot are yet to be disclosed." We never use IMDb as a source, see WP:IMDB. Also, the error was apparently fixed because he is no longer listed. This is why we do not use IMDb as a source. If we do get a reliable source that states he is part of the film, then it should be included. As of this post, it is just blogs guessing. Mike Allen 20:11, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MikeAllen: seeing this discussion thread now. This Comicbook.com source reports the same news, however it is not citing IMDB, it's citing a set pic Keke Palmer took. Will this suffice? Rusted AutoParts 17:53, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would say yes since it's my understanding that it's considered a reliable source. Also, they make no mention of IMDb. Mike Allen 18:20, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They source what seems to be (my bad) a SnapChat screenshot that has no mention of the film. It's just the wrestler and some women. A SnapChat screenshot? No, that's not reliable, says NOTHING and it's WP:FRUIT and unless some other reporters report on it, not a screenshot from SnapChat, I say against it. I think ComicBook may be confused, or heck they could be right. But the sourcing (screenshot) has no mention of the film. BarntToust (talk) 19:28, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
the source (a snapchat post), in short, is horrendously unclear and has not been backed up otherwise in reliable sources that are actually distinct. BarntToust (talk) 19:30, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

:::::Comicbook.com is making the report that the film he's working on is Good Fortune. It is your own personal assumption they're "confused", but they are a reliable source making a report on Reigns being in the film. You'll need to back up your assertion with reliable sourcing casting doubt on it's accuracy. Not "may be confused". Rusted AutoParts 21:29, 25 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm actually going to throw cold water on my own point. On further look around to bolster my point, I found this source, which cites an Instagram post from another actor working on the film in question. He's an actor/stuntman, and in his caption I noticed him talking about how in addition to getting to know Reigns on set, he also met Palmer and Eddie Murphy. Looking at Palmer's filmography, she is to star in two upcoming films: this film, and one called The Pickup, which will star her and Murphy. I think when reporting on Palmer's Instagram story an assumption was made the film in question was Good Fortune. I now have reasonable doubt, and will not be pursuing his addition at this time. Could still be part of it, but with this new source there's skepticism on my part, and the plot for The Pickup seems to more align with the setup of the set Reigns is on.
