Image of mother and baby
[edit]Hi Jane023 thanks for that edit on the images of mother and baby. Could you help me understand - so are these two images different? Sorry, I thought it was the same painting and the one with the whiter coloured cape had been digitally altered!

this painting is in the UK
-
this painting is in New Zealand
I have nominated the image with the yellower colouring for Featured Picture status however it needs to appear in a WP article in order to meet the criteria. Do you have an opinion on this - should the whiter coloured one be nominated as it appears in this article, or could we add the yellower coloured one to the article? Thanks for your input. - Hi MurielMary, if you click on the images you can see more information about them. Why would you want to nominate the yellower image as featured image? These are only two of several iterations of this particular theme, that was also popular as a photographed object. Actually it is probably worth a Wikipedia article since it was such a popular image. - Thanks for the clarification. To my untrained eye, I thought that the yellower colouring was more typical of Lindauer's work, and FPs are supposed to be representative of the artist's work. Happy to defer to someone else's more expert opinion on this, though! MurielMary (talk) 20:33, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- No, yellow generally just means the painting has hung a long time in someone's house where there was a lot of cigar or cigarette smoke. The image of the Poi dancer from the Royal Collection is an example of how bright colors can stay if the painting is cared for properly. Jane (talk) 21:22, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

Portrait Dates
[edit]It seems there may be a problem with the dates on the two portrait photos on this page? The age of the artist doesn't seem to correlate to the dates. Eothan (talk) 03:42, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
- sorry ignore above was not looking closely enough - apologies. Eothan (talk) 03:44, 4 December 2022 (UTC)
